End of the season cake

My mom asked me to make a cake to commemorate the end of the season up in Thousand Island Park on Wellesly Island.  I have seen the cute little squirrels, acorns, and pears in a book called Kate's Cake Decorating by Kate Sullivan.  I just put my own spin on it with the tree stump cake.  My mom stepped out of her box on this one (usually it's always white cake, vanilla frosting) - I got to make chocolate butter cream!  The figures are all made out of marzipan and hand painted.

Baby Shower Weekend

It just so happens that I had two orders in one weekend and both for baby showers.  One was for baby shower cookie favors for a little baby boy, and the other was a cupcake order for a shower for a little baby girl.

The cookies were vanilla and decorated with royal icing so they could be bagged.  They came out super cute, however; I totally underestimated the time they took to decorate - and ended up staying up until 3:00 am... not good!  That little teddy bear was the culprit!

The cupcakes were pumpkin spice with cream cheese frosting, and red velvet with chocolate buttercream.  Delicious!  On top were little fondant/gumpaste molds of baby girl shoes.  So cute.  I really enjoyed doing both orders.

Georgia and Ava's Birthday

So, I totally failed to capture Georgia's Birthday party and her cake/cupcakes all but for the hind view of Cinderella.  Thank goodness it was a joint birthday party and Ava's grandma got a great picture of the cupcakes :)  There were a ton of cupcakes - chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, vanilla gluten-free, and vanilla dairy free!
